Frequently Asked Questions

Do you work with homeschools?

Yes, we are proud advocates in the homeschool community and currently partner with 10 area charters. Please see the list of homeschool charter partners on our homepage, for more info.

Do you teach Neurodivergent Learners like children with Autism and ADHD?

Absolutely! These students are also integrated into our studio recitals and funding is accepted through the Regional Center's SDP (Self-Determined Program) funding option.

What ages do you teach?

We private teach students as young as 5 years old, sometimes 4.5 years old, depending on maturity, ability and support at home. Contact us for a free trial lesson to see if your child is ready for lessons. Lessons for young children include fun, interactive games and activities- flashcards for home use and lesson/theory/recital books to reinforce lesson concepts.  Coming this fall will be a Music for Mozarts group class, for children ages 3 to 5.

How are your lessons broken down?

Private lessons are divided into a 10/10/10 format. The first 10 minutes are review of last weeks concepts. The second portion of the lesson focuses on new concepts & material. The final 10 minutes is "guided free choice" of popular songs and classical repertoire. In my experience, students study and practice more when their song choices are also part of weekly practice. My teaching style offers a great balance of new material, returning concepts, classical repertoire and personal favorites- all to create the "magic" that is learning music in a 1:1 setting!

Can I stay to watch the lesson?

We have a fully open-door policy. Parents are welcome to stay or drop off as they feel comfortable. With over 24 years experience teaching children, I am DOJ fingerprint cleared, background checked, insured and school verified.  As we add more instructors in the future, they too will be fully background checked and insured.

Do you offer private or group lessons?

Our studio is 1:1 private piano (30/45/60 minute options) and private piano/voice combo instruction (45 min or 60 minute options). Small group lessons will be starting in the fall for children ages 3-5. If you would like to bring Beach Breeze to your after school program, please contact us at info@beachbreezemusic.com

Can you travel teach to our home?

Lessons take place at the home studio in South Bay. Lessons are also offered virtually via zoom or google meet, if you prefer. Visiting a private teacher's home allows the student to access materials and resources only available in that space. They also have the opportunity to play on a professionally tuned high-end instrument when visiting. A waitlist has started for after school and travel lessons, please reach out to be added to this list. As an additional teacher is hired for the Fall who can travel teach, you will be contacted.

Do you have after-school spots open?

My work is primarily within the homeschool community during school day hours. Please contact us to be added to the after school student waitlist.

How quickly should I hear back about my trial lesson/purchase order/question?

Hearing back from a 1:1 private teacher may take a few days. Just as when we work with your child, private teacher's give their undivided attention and do not email/text/answer calls during a students private lesson. Thanks for your patience.

What days is the studio open?

Monday-Friday from 9:00-2:00pm for scheduled private lessons and small group classes. The studio follows our typical public/charter school calendar including vacation breaks and holidays. The studio is closed July 1-August 15 for summer break. See the "Schedule" tab for more information.

Do you accept beginners?

Beginners are welcome and encouraged to join the studio. We specialize in beginners and neurodivergent learners. Siblings are also encouraged to participate. Homework and study can be personalized to include fun theory activities together and even sibling duets for our studio recitals.
